The Pro Centovalli and Pedemonte in short
Founded in 1938 for several (agricultural) reasons, the Pro Centovalli and Pedemonte has been promoting touristic activities since the fourties. Even at that time tourism was supported by the visitors tax whose collection the Pro Centovalli and Pedemonte was responsible for until 1972.
Since then, this function has been assumed by the tourist office of Locarno and Valli (now Lago Maggiore) which was founded at that time.
With over 700 members the Pro Centovalli and Pedemonte is one of the most important associations in the region.
In the nineties, thanks to many occupational programs it was possible to improve the path net (160 Kilometres) whose access has been ensured by the Raylways and three cableways: Intragna-Pila-Costa, Verdasio-Rasa, Verdasio-Comino.
