8)Isella (Olgia stazione -Valle Vigezzo) – Monadello – Pian del Barch – Palagnedra (3½ Ore)
Starting from the Olgia station in the Vigezzo Valley an alpine trail takes you up to the Italian-Swiss border, where just a little before a trail leading to the Gridone will be crossed. It eventually leads to the Parco Nazionale di Valgrande (Valgrande national park) on the Italian side and further to Monadello (borough of Palagnedra), the first hamlet on Swiss territory, once inhabited by smugglers and woodcutters. From here you can have an outstanding view over Pizzo Ruscada, the Vigezzo Valley and the Alps of Vallis. The trip can be continued towards Camedo, Moneto, Palagnedra, or, following the right shoulder of Centovalli, until Intragna.
